Why & What’s Keli Paan… ??!??
My sole intention for creating this food blog is to popularise and share some tasty dishes I have enjoyed.
Oh, by the way.. my name is not Keli. I have loads of people referring to me as Keli/Keli Paan; it’s just the name of my blog & my name is Anitha. 🙂
Now before you wonder what’s Keli Paan.. ??? what kind of name is that for a food/cookery blog.. …??? Keli Paan is a Banana Leaf in Konkani (Is a dialect spoken by a community of people in India) .. An array of yummy food arranged on a green banana leaf is a feast for the eyes, don’t you agree??.. Just Imagine what bliss it would bring to your tummy.. 🙂 🙂 🙂 Being a Konkana (One who belongs to the Konkani community).. I so wanted a Konkani touch to my blog……
My Recipe’s:
My love for food dates back to my childhood. So this love is not newborn, the baking bit is a new-found passion. Many are my own creations. Some are old traditional recipe’s.
The best way to get started is by checking out the Recipe Index, in there you will find the complete list of all recipes posted in the blog. They are all categorised for easy browsing. Else, type in the ingredient or the name of the dish which you are looking for using the search box in the right navigation pane.
Note: I should warn you that, food is a very personal & sensitive issue for many, some use more spice, some don’t, some like it sweet, some like it hot, some like it cold…. (No, I’m not singing the nursery rhyme – Hot cross buns). All the recipes with their ingredients & serving suggestions here in my blog are just guidelines & mostly the way I like to eat it; You can manipulate & substitute any of the ingredients based on your taste & choice.
Also, if any recipe you try out, does not look like the pictures I have posted here (There could be possibilities of this happening), don’t be alarmed, the quality & the variety of the ingredients also matter a lot, so that would probably be the reason for the difference.
My food photography:
I get a lot of people asking me who does the photography, all photographs posted on my blog Keli Paan are clicked by me. I had never ever dreamt until I started blogging that I would love food photography so much. Because every time I’m in a restaurant I’m all over the food when it arrives, who has time to click pictures.. 🙂
I’m still taking baby steps at food photography though. I believe that “A good meal begins with an appetite! – Anonymous ” & for a good appetite the food should look tempting & magnetic..I spend a lot of time reading about food photography, fussing, hunting, obsessing, buying all the tableware & other props, because
I have a Cannon Rebel XSI with a 18-55 lens which I mainly use for my food photography. Some concepts are from my husband as well. If you see a male hand garnishing the food or adding an ingredient, it would be my husband helping me out as I still have not started using the tripod we own, since he helps me when he is around. 🙂
How you can be a part of Keli Paan:
Please do try the recipe’s out, enjoy them as much as my family and I do. I would love to read your comments once you try any of the recipe’s out. Do take a minute & add your comments, it always brightens up my day & urges me to blog more often. And I hope you would come back here for more recipe’s.
Also, please do send in your recipe’s, I’ll try them out and publish it in my blog with due credit to you. And, if it’s a recipe inspired/adapted from another food blogger, I will surely give you & your blog its due credit & I expect the same from my fellow bloggers.
Some of the recipe’s featured here in the blog are :

Hi Namrata.. thanks for taking time & leaving your comments. 🙂 Thanks for your kind words.
Food photography is indeed challenging.. but the best part about it is you can have the setup as you wish. There are no moving objects/people involved. If you check out my initial photos you would know how it I have slowly developed my skills in photography over a period of time. I check Pinterest & the internet for food photo’s.. read some do’s & don’t… N try my ideas with these tips… I would keep clicking & clicking till I found the best shot.. Yes, it involves loads of patience… Don’t worry.. you will get there.. with some practice.. I still have loads to learn..
Happy cooking & happy clicking.. Hope to see you around more often..!
