The first time I tasted sausages I was blown. Pork was never cooked in my house. As mentioned earlier in of my earlier posts that my mum is a pure vegetarian who considers egg non-vegetarian. Many who do not eat egg, cant resist cakes/bakes which include egg. But my mum does not eat cakes/bakes if it has eggs in it. Non-veg was something I craved for always!. I would always ask my friends to get some for me when they could and enjoy every bit of it. Back then when you are a kid who cares about calories and fat. 😛
Before I go on about my love for pork, I’ll pause and not bore you guys. This is another quick starter for the sausage fans… I found some sweet peppers in the fridge was wondering how do I use them.. then found some sausages in the freezer… came up with this dish….
Sweet peppers add a nice crunchy and sweet flavour to the peppery sausages tossed in some soya and onions…
Ingredients: (Serves 2) Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Pork sausages: 6 medium-sized, each cut into 3 pieces
Sweet chilli pepper – 1 small, any colour of your choice, chopped as shown in the picture
Onion – 1 medium-sized, diced
Garlic – 2 cloves, chopped finely
Soya Sauce – 1 tbsp
Black peppercorns – 3 or 4 crushed
Salt to taste
Oil – 1 tbsp
Heat oil in a frying pan set to medium heat. Add the chopped garlic once the oil is hot, sauté for a few seconds, add the diced onions and sauté for a minute, add the soya sauce and mix well. Fry this for a minute or so.
Add the cut sausages and mix and fry till the sausages are done. Probably about 5+ minutes. Add salt to taste and crushed black peppercorns and mix. Add the chopped sweet chilli peppers towards the end and mix well. Saute for just about under a minute. We do not want to cook the peppers.
Garnish with some chopped coriander/spring onions if required.
